Celebrating World Art Day in Ybor City with Goats for a Cause

Tampa’s Mayor Jane Castor and Maestro Mark Sforzini, of the St. Pete Opera, were in Ybor City to celebrate World Art Day and a solo exhibition by French artist Geff Strik.

The event was for a good cause as guests supported Project GOAT – The Global Offensive Against Trafficking. The internationally acclaimed  artist Geff Strik, artist in residence for the Florida Orchestra, created a “Tribute to Five Great Artists:  Picasso, Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol.”

The tribute was in the form of five full-size goat statues, each one recognizable for the artist they pay homage to. In addition, the artist showcased original pieces created for multiple Florida Orchestra events. An amazing collection of beautiful paintings adorned the massive walls of the ballroom. All of the art showcased was available for purchase and proceeds went to the cause.

The hosts included Phil Yost of Compass Land & Title and A+C Foundation’s Rob Canton. Project GOAT is a program of A+C Foundation.
