Save the Kids Foundation has partnered with the University of South Florida to launch a new research lab aimed at treating Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumors, a rare, and aggressive, pediatric brain cancer with survival rates as low as 10-30%.
This collaboration, marked by the opening of a dedicated lab at USF, aims to advance research and find effective treatments for ATRT, a cancer largely overlooked in funding.
Dr. Mildred Duncan, USF Research Professor, is leading the project, focusing on adapting adult brain cancer treatments for pediatric patients. The initiative reflects Save the Kids’ ongoing commitment to groundbreaking pediatric cancer research, following their recent success in gaining FDA approval for a neuroblastoma treatment.
Community support is encouraged, with proceeds from the upcoming Roaring ’20s Gatsby Gala going directly to pediatric cancer research.
