Richard Gonzmart, a 1971 graduate of Jesuit High School and a Tampa restaurateur, has donated $1 million to the school. This latest gift adds to Gonzmart’s long-standing contributions to Jesuit High, which include previous multimillion-dollar donations.
Gonzmart, owner of the 1905 Family of Restaurants that includes Tampa landmarks such as the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, and Ulele on the Riverwalk, previously donated, $1 million, in 2013, to Jesuit High — the largest donation ever from an alumnus at the time. That contribution was later increased to $2.5 million.
In recognition of his generosity, the school named its 32,000-square-foot Administration and Student Center, Gonzmart Hall, in 2018.
The recent $1 million donation will support the next phase of Jesuit’s campus master plan.
In addition to financial contributions, Gonzmart regularly supports the school through events such as the annual Hartnett Golf Classic, Tampa’s longest-running charity golf tournament, where he serves as the Premier Tournament Sponsor.
Jesuit High School, founded in 1899, is a private, all-male Catholic institution committed to educating young men in the Jesuit tradition.
