The Tampa Police Benevolent Association is seeking community support after 11 Tampa police officers, and their families, were displaced by Hurricane Helene.
PBA President Brandon Barclay reported that the officers’ homes were severely damaged by floodwaters. While demolition is not necessary, extensive repairs, including gutting and drying down to the studs, will be required before they can return.
Most of the affected officers have children and insurance delays mean repairs may take months to begin, Barclay said.
“These officers were serving the community during the storm while their homes were being destroyed,” Barclay said. “We’re asking the community to step up and help, in this critical time.”
All donations will go directly to the impacted officers. The PBA is also working with Tampa Police Chief, Lee Bercaw to secure additional private contributions.
