Hillsborough County’s tourism and hospitality industry surpassed $1 billion in hotel taxable revenue, in 2024, marking the third consecutive year the county has reached this milestone, according to Visit Tampa Bay.
Through November, the county recorded $1,052,883,894 in hotel taxable revenue, fueled by record-breaking performance during the fall. November alone generated more than $100 million in taxable revenue for the first time, with tourist development tax collections reaching $6,159,362—a 35.8% increase, compared to November 2023. Hotel occupancy for the month hit a new high of 81.1%, up 21.8% from the previous year, while the average daily hotel rate rose to $169.83.
The strong November performance followed record hotel revenue and tax collections in September and October, pushing the county past the billion-dollar mark, even before December’s data was available. Revenue per available room in November reached $137.76, driven by increased visitor demand.
