How Bianca Burrows expanded her art scene in a unique way

Custom art is one of those luxuries, sometimes small and sometimes large, but always meaningful. BB Art’s custom, handmade bottles are often described as “the gift for the person who has everything.” Each bottle is a unique work of art, designed with a personal touch. Bianca Burrows, a mixed media artist based in Tampa, is the talented eye behind BB Art. She merges traditional acrylic paints with a variety of unique materials, such as custom-designed stencils and collage paper, to create a unique and recognizable style. She draws on the inspiration of her clients’ visions and her creativity to design vibrant, crisp, bold pieces.

Throughout her career, Burrows has collaborated with brands and organizations including the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ashley Furniture, Fresh Kitchen, Mercedes-Benz, Bloomingdale’s, Refinery29, Lululemon, Land Rover, Major League Baseball and the National Football League.

Her work has been featured in events like the SHINE Mural Festival, in St. Petersburg, where she co-created “The Global Currency” mural, with artist Nneka Jones, addressing the issue of overfishing.

In 2022, Bianca served as the artist-in-residence at The Don CeSar hotel, creating a six-piece, mixed media art series titled “If These Walls Could Talk,” which explored the hotel’s history, leading up to its 95th anniversary.

When the Tampa Bay Business and Wealth team came across one of her beautiful custom bottles, we knew we had to get to know her better.

Talk a little about your art background. Where did you first learn you had a gift?

I’ve always been drawn to art, in one form or another. I didn’t necessarily know I had a “gift” for art, right away, but as a kid, I found myself constantly in my mom’s craft box creating things. It wasn’t until high school, when I started taking formal art classes, that I began to see my work evolve and realize I had a natural inclination for it. From there, I pursued a deeper education in the arts, ultimately leading me to study Fine Arts at the University of Tampa.

You’re from the Northeast but came to Tampa, to study at UT. Why did you decide to stay here?

After graduating from the University of Tampa, in 2012, I had already fallen in love with the city and could see the potential of what it has become today. I thought about moving back to New York, where I’m from, but I realized I wanted to be part of something new and help shape it, rather than getting lost in a bigger, more established scene. Back then, Tampa’s art community was small but supportive, and that made it the perfect place for me to grow, both as an artist and as a person. I had that “big fish in a small pond” mentality, where I could see how the city was evolving and felt like I could really make an impact and influence the culture here, instead of blending in somewhere else.

You’ve found a lot of success in this region, what have been some of the projects that stood out as game-changing opportunities?

I truly owe so much of my success to the local brands and community who have supported me along the way. A few standout projects helped to put my work on the map. Early on, working with the Ciccio Restaurant Group was huge—they already had such a strong presence in the area so, getting to create artwork and murals for their spaces meant my work was instantly in front of so many eyes. It gave me a real boost and connected me with people who appreciated what I was doing.

Another pivotal project was my collaboration with The Don CeSar. Representing a landmark as iconic as “The Pink Palace” was an absolute honor. I developed an eight-piece series called “If These Walls Could Talk,” which told the story of the brand’s journey from its historic beginnings to the present. It was an incredible opportunity to weave a visual narrative that honored both its legacy and evolution.

These kinds of partnerships have been real game-changers for me. While I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with bigger names like MLB, Porsche and Harley-Davidson, some of the most rewarding experiences, and positive impacts, have truly come from working with the community-driven businesses, right here in Tampa.

A major growth area in your business has been your custom art bottles. Talk about why you started in that space and why the growth has been so significant.

The custom art bottles are basically me combining my mixed media art techniques and applying them to high-end alcohol bottles. Some of the top sellers are Don Julio 1942, Dom Pérignon and Veuve Clicquot. Honestly, the success of these bottles still blows my mind. People just love getting them as gifts and, I like to think, it’s because I put so much heart into each design—I’ll give credit to that!

It all started when my friend Ally Lamb, who owns The Social Revelry, here in Tampa, was planning an event for a client and asked if I’d ever painted Don Julio bottles. I hadn’t, but I’m very much a “let’s figure this out” kind of person, so I went for it. And I’m so glad I did! Each bottle becomes unique and personal, through the collage technique, making them perfect for weddings, engagements and even big orders for businesses that want something cool, and custom, to reflect their brand. The ordering process is super easy and I keep the turnaround quick, so it’s a smooth experience from start to finish. Seeing how much people connect with these has been amazing.

What are some ways our readers can learn more about your art offerings? Where can they see your work?

I’m active on social media.  Instagram is a great place to see my latest projects and behind-the-scenes work. I also update my website, regularly, with new collections and I have an online shop where people can purchase prints and custom pieces. You can also sign up for my newsletter for updates, but since I’m always working on something new, social channels are usually the best way to stay in the loop.

Customize Your Bottle

Creating a BB Art custom bottle is as simple as filling out a form. Choose a bottle, like Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicquot or Don Julio, upload your images, select a theme and submit.

BB Art takes it from there, incorporating paper elements, client-sent images and thoughtfully chosen visuals, to tell a story that captures meaningful moments and memories.

Bianca has created bottles for various occasions, from entire bridal party gifts to memorable holiday gifts for office teams and clients. She’s also a go-to artist for Amalie Arena’s sold-out shows, crafting gifts for performing artists. (Follow Bianca Burrows on Instagram @itsbbart)
