Outback Bowl officials confirmed that their 2022 game, which hosts teams from the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference, will be played on Saturday, January 1 at Raymond James Stadium.
The game will kick off at 12:00 p.m., on ESPN2. It will continue its tradition as a January bowl for the 35th consecutive year.
“We are pleased to once again be the first game to kick off the most tradition-rich day of college football – New Year’s Day,” said Outback Bowl President and CEO, Jim McVay. “The eyes of the college football world will be on the Outback Bowl. We are also excited to return to, what we expect will be, a full ‘Bowl Week’ of events so we can showcase our wonderful Tampa Bay community to our teams and their fanbases.”
Priority membership seats are currently available through the Outback Bowl office. All other general tickets will go on sale to the public in late August through Ticketmaster, a statement said.
The Outback Bowl attracts tens of thousands of out-of-market visitors each year, generating an economic impact estimated at $1.1 billion on the Tampa Bay area over its history. The game also generates tens of millions of dollars in exposure for the region, each year, and has contributed $158 million to universities over its history, along with more than $2.5 million for charities since 2016 through its Charitable Giving Initiative.
The bowls title sponsor, Outback Steakhouse, is the longest title sponsor in college bowl history, celebrating its 27th year with the upcoming game.
