Hands Across the Bay Donation and Empowerment Center celebrates VIP grand opening today (PHOTOS)

Hands Across the Bay is hosting a VIP grand opening of its first Donation & Empowerment Center tonight at 13247 38th Street N., Suite A, Clearwater.

This event is a VIP private grand opening but the center said it will host private tours for whoever would like to visit the center after it opens to the public.

Hands Across the Bay is a nonprofit organization that was developed to positively impact the lives of as many Tampa Bay residents as possible. The organization was established by Julie Weintraub, who is owner of the Gold & Diamond Source, in Clearwater, along with her husband, Steve.

The Donation & Empowerment Center building was donated by Gold & Diamond Source and for the past 16 months, Windstar Homes, a Tampa-based luxury home building company, sponsored and completed the building’s renovation, which required a total demolition and remodel, a statement said.

The center will be a place where individuals and children overcoming crisis, survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, among hardships, can come to receive items and services free of charge.

Hands Across the Bay also plans to host classes, groups and activities to empower victims to become survivors and provide meaningful connections. The Center includes a women’s boutique, men’s closet, children’s department, baby area, food pantry, personal care and household items.
